Phillips planned to further their practice in both the digital and analog realms to manifest physical as well as conceptual connections between the two. They would work with computer-assisted Jacquard loom technology indulge in the system, and refurbish their great-grandmother’s loom to begin exploring digitally-informed image-making in hand woven double cloth pick up.

The Windgate Fellowship will allow me the opportunity to further my practice in both the digital and analog textile methods, and to manifest physical as well as conceptual connections between the two. I will have the opportunity to establish a studio in a local makerspace where I will work with computer-assisted Jacquard loom technology as well as refurbish my great-grandmother’s loom in order to continue my exploration of digitally-informed image-making in handwoven double cloth pick up.
