Statement: As a metalsmith and jeweler I combine traditional and non-traditional processes, creating wearable work that references the autobiographical nature of the home, but also speaks to larger ideas of culture, memory, and place. Fellowship Plans: With the award I will purchase essential tools and equipment needed to build my studio. Second, I will continue to build my knowledge and skill by taking a two-week workshop at Penland School of Crafts. Then in March of 2020 I plan travel to Europe to visit two major contemporary jewelry centers: Munich, Germany and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. While in Munich I will attend Handwerksmesse, the International Exposition of Trades and Crafts, and the internationally renowned exhibition, Schmuck.
The Center for Craft is expanding, adding an additional 7,000 ft² of program space within our historic 1912 building in downtown Asheville! During this time our building will be closed — Reopening Nov 16, 2019. Our Grants and Fellowships programs will continue to operate on a normal schedule.Close X
