Purchase one or more $25 raffle tickets during the Center for Craft 2018 Raffle and you’ll be entered to win a $1,000 gift certificate for a workshop or class at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, or Penland School of Crafts.

The Center for Craft values the importance of higher education to train both makers and researchers. We also recognize that learning happens outside of formal educational systems, including workshops and classes. That is why we value our partnerships with Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, or Penland School of Crafts, allowing us to strengthen the craft community.

This is a fundraising project for The Center for Craft, Creativity and Design (Center for Craft), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Proceeds from the raffle will support the Building a Future for Craft campaign to expand the Center’s public programs and physical space to meet the growing interest in craft, both regionally a and across the country.

The raffle begins at 12:01 am (EST) on December 1, 2018, and ends at 11:00 am (EST) on December 31, 2018. The drawing will take place on December 31, 2018, and will be live streamed at 12:00 pm on the Center’s Facebook page.

The winner will select the workshop/class of their choice from the three schools as specified in prize information below; no cash remuneration will be made for choosing a workshop/ class of lesser price but may be applied to other fees directly related to the workshop/ class.

Up to 1,000 tickets will be sold. Odds of winning are based on the number of tickets sold.  Present staff and board members of the Center not eligible to win. Must be 18 years of age or older. Contest void where prohibited. You need not be present to win.

Arrowmont School of Arts

Founded as a settlement school in 1912 by the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, Arrowmont has grown into a national center for contemporary arts and crafts education, supporting learning opportunities for individuals of all skills levels and ages. Arrowmont is located on 13-acres in the heart of Gatlinburg, TN only minutes away from Great Smoky Mountains National Park. People travel from across the nation and the globe to take classes at Arrowmont with more than 150 national workshops are offered annually.

John C. Campbell Folk School

For more than 90 years, the Folk School, located in Brasstown, NC, has encouraged all students and guests to become a part of the community through all-school activities such as concerts, dances, presentations and meals. From Basketry to Writing, you can choose from over 860 weeklong and weekend classes each year in a broad variety of areas. Your creative experience is enhanced by knowledgeable instructors and small classes. Whether you are a novice or an expert, you will find the class that's right for you.

Penland School of Crafts

Penland is a national center for craft education located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Penland’s focus on excellence, its long history, and its inspiring, retreat setting have made it a model of experiential education. The school offers workshops in books and paper, clay, drawing and painting, glass, iron, metals, photography, printmaking and letterpress, textiles, wood, and other media. There are offerings for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students, with the bulk of the workshops welcoming all three.

Rules and Regulations

A copy of these rules and regulations is available by sending a written request and a self addressed, stamped envelope to Center for Craft at 67 Broadway Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

HOW TO ENTER: Enter online by purchasing a raffle ticket through Center for Craft's Square Shop, and in person at the Center for Craft during our normal gallery hours (Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm EST).

Online purchasers will receive a confirmation email with your raffle number(s), and orders placed on or before December 20th at 5 p.m. will also receive a physical ticket with your raffle number by mail. In-person ticket purchasers will receive ticket(s) at time of purchase. In-person ticket sales end on December 21st at 2 p.m.

Once submitted, entries become the sole property of Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, Inc. and will not be returned or refunded.

ELIGIBILITY: Present staff and board members of the Center not eligible to win. Must be 18 years or older to enter. Contest void where prohibited. You need not be present to win.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS:  The drawing will take place on December 31, 2018, and will be live streamed at 12:00 pm on the Center’s Facebook page. The winner will be notified by telephone, mail and/or email. If the potential winner cannot be reached after 10 days from first notification attempt, or if an entrant is found to be ineligible, or a prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected by random drawing.

PRIZE SELECTION: The winner of the Center for Craft 2018 Raffle will receive a gift certificate to be used for a workshop or class from Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, or Penland School of Crafts . The winner will select the workshop/class of their choice from the three schools as specified in prize information below; no cash remuneration will be made for choosing a workshop/ class of lesser price but may be applied to other school fees directly related to the workshop/ class. The Center for Craft does not guarantee the availability or content of workshops or classes, and prize winners redeeming gift certificates are subject to the same rules and regulations as other workshop or class participants. Gift certificates are assignable with permission of the Center for Craft. The gift certificate will expire on 12/31/2019.

MODIFICATIONS OR CANCELATION OF DRAWING: Center for Craft reserves the right to cancel or modify the Raffle. In the event of a cancelation, ticket purchases will be refunded.

INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMIT ON LIABILITY: As a condition of accepting a prize, winner acknowledges that Center for Craft is not responsible for any harm, injury, or damage caused to any person or property, proximate or otherwise, through the use of any prize by any person, and agrees to save and hold harmless Center for Craft, its principals and employees from any claim of such responsibility. “Harm, injury or damage” includes but is not limited to occurrences beyond the control of Center for Craft such as death, bodily injury, property damage, or theft.

GENERAL: Ticket purchases are non-refundable and are not tax deductible. By entering the raffle, participants agree that Center for Craft, its agents and employees have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind which result from the date of award. The prize is non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Center for Craft may use winner’s name and likeness for publicity purposes without further compensation. Center for Craft is not responsible for any failure of communication or failure of the Internet or its website. Center for Craft reserves the right to modify these rules and will give a prompt announcement of any rule changes. All decisions of the Center for Craft are final and binding in all matters related to this raffle.

TAX OBLIGATIONS:  The winner is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and fees, and must submit a W-9 to the Center for Craft in order to claim the prize. The Center for Craft will file IRS Form W2-G with Internal Revenue Service reporting the value of the prize as income to the winner. Winner must show proof of social security number to the Center for Craft. This is for tax recording purposes only and will be not be used or released for any other purposes.

RESTRICTIONS: By participating in the Center for Craft 2018 Raffle, a participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and by all decisions of the Center for Craft.

AFFIDAVIT OF ELIGIBILITY AND LIABILITY / PUBLICITY RELEASE OF GRAND PRIZE WINNER: The Winner must show proof of valid driver’s license and will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release in order to claim their prize.

AUTHORITY AND CONTROL: The decision of the Center for Craft shall be final in all matters concerning the Raffle. The Raffle is subject to the laws of the state of North Carolina. The Raffle is void where prohibited by law. Center for Craft is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the Raffle’s advertising and/or any printed, broadcast, or internet-provided materials or information.
