Grant Recipient
Meryl Pataky is an artist, educator, and cultural practitioner whose sculptural work explores care, labor, and material memory. Working with neon, glass, and metal—materials bound to industry and cultural histories—she pushes their forms toward fragility and emotional resonance. For over a decade, Pataky has taught sculpture and neon across academic and community settings. She is the cofounder of She Bends*,* along with culture worker Kelsey Issel, a platform supporting underrepresented artists in neon through mentorship, residencies, and exhibitions. Across her work, she champions neon as a living, resilient practice that fosters connection and redefines the boundaries of sculpture.
