Curatorial Fellowship
2025
Alyssa Velazquez, writer, curator, and creative director, has been awarded the Center for Craft’s 2026 Curatorial Fellowship for her exhibition titled Crafty: Creating Autonomy Through Collective Action. This exhibition will highlight organizations addressing scarcity in their communities and demonstrate how craft can advocate for and empower individuals fighting for access, safety, freedom, and recognition.
Over the next 10 months, Alyssa will work closely with staff from the Center for Craft and independent curator Rachael Arauz to produce an exhibition, related learning materials, and programming.
The Curatorial Fellowship supports emerging craft curators in their areas of research, promoting experimentation, collaboration, and engagement across the curatorial field. This year’s fellowship welcomed proposals that explored themes of craft and community vitality.
