FAMILY FRIENDLY?

Food is a major source of comfort and connection, and has become even more of one over the last several months. It reminds us of family, community, and times of celebration. On December 2, Cowork at Center for Craft invites you to join Ani Volkan, a Center for Craft: Craft Futures Fund recipient, and Eliana Rodriguez, a Latinx artist and Roots + Wings instructor, in learning how to make a traditional comfort food from your own home kitchen! Ani and Eliana will guide you through the making of tostones, or fried green plantains, and share more about the importance of cooking in their family histories and how it goes hand-in-hand with craft.

Crafting Comfort is a digital storytelling project created by Ani that aims to  capturing anecdotes of how craft and cooking go together, and the soon-to-be-launched Crafting Comfort website features comfort food recipes, recipe artwork, and craft video tutorials from traditionally underrepresented voices in craft. The project will culminate in a celebration of the field's diversity through the creation of a cookbook that shares a variety of voices from letterpress artists to weavers to ceramic artists.

⏰  Wednesday, December 2 from 5:30 to 7:00pm (est)

📍  Online, from your home kitchen! Zoom details will be shared upon registration.

🎟  Tickets are $5 per person, but do not include the cost of ingredients (which are not expected to exceed $25). Ingredient and recipe details will be shared prior to the event so that you may do your own shopping!
