The world unfolding around us today is much different than we might have ever imagined. In times of social distancing, people are hungry to connect. How much comfort craft gives you and how important and valuable that is - resting with a mug, a comforting quilt, a durable tool made by another human being? This situation presents a unique moment for the field of craft to rise to the challenge by engaging the senses to release anxiety in new ways.

To ensure the safety of our community and to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Center for Craft will be temporarily closing its building to the public beginning March 18, 2020. Please consider a donation of any size during this unprecedented time. Your support is critical in mitigating the losses we are expecting and the difficult decisions we may need to make as a result.

Operations will continue remotely and staff is available by phone and email 10 am - 6 pm Monday thru Friday. As we navigate these uncertain times together, we will provide updates on when we may safely resume public programming. In the meantime, we plan to bring the Center's important work online to encourage the public to discover, learn, and participate in craft. We recognize the importance of providing the academic community and artists with resources during these uncertain times and are committed to continuing our grants and fellowship programs as planned.

Over the centuries, craft has demonstrated its ability to provide solutions for human connectivity, self-sufficiency, and economic resilience. I look forward to reflecting on the unfolding stories that illustrate craft's care during a time when we need it most. Together we are building a future for craft.
