On April 24, the Center for Craft was honored by the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce with a Sky High Growth Award. Each year, the fastest-growing small businesses (based on gross revenue, growth, and number of employees) receive the prestigious recognition. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company hosted this year’s awards ceremony and reception.

The Chamber recognized Center for Craft as “a leading cultural asset that honors the legacy of craft in the region while building a bright future for craft across the country,” and specifically highlighted Center for Craft’s landmark market study, created and executed in conjunction with the Chamber and Artspace, an organization that focuses on creating affordable live-work space for artists. Over 5,000 local creatives participated in the study, sharing thoughts and priorities for housing, studio, and performance space that will help implement lasting shifts in our creative community.

The Chamber also recognized Center for Craft’s Building a Future for Craft campaign, which will renovate the historic building on Broadway St. to add 7,000 square feet of gallery space, classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, installations, and cutting-edge programming.
