Fine proposed to attend a collodion tutorial with Mark Osterman, in Rochester, New York and learned the process of wet-plate collodion. In the 12 months following the tutorial she would convert a traditional 8x10 camera into one that holds glass plates and made a body of work originating from the wet-plate collodion process.
