Research to elucidate Trude Guermonprez’s pivotal and pioneering role in the advancement of American fiber art in the 20th century. Largely omitted from the discourse of craft history in this country, Guermonprez made significant artistic contributions as both a weaver and a teacher, and her influence has endured generations beyond her lifetime.

The Center for Craft is reactivating the Craft Futures Fund grant program to provide emergency relief in response to Hurricane Helene, directing critical resources to the artists of Western North Carolina. Donate now to join this effort—application details will be posted shortly.
The Fall 2024 programs and grant deadlines have been postponed until further notice. The Craft Research Fund and Windgate-Lamar Fellowship programs will continue, though deadlines may have shifted. Please check individual grant pages for details.
