Windgate-Lamar Fellowship
2018
Lachiocotte planned to travel to northeastern galleries and museums such as New York to see and be inspired by pieces of Modern Abstract art movement. From there, they would work with a local metalsmith and jeweler, Kip Kneip, and seek to take workshops at Arrowmont, Penland, and/or the Appalachian Center for Craft.
I will use the Windgate Fellowship to complete research, take workshops, and invest in tools and materials to create a body of work and to commence my professional career. I will travel to galleries and museums in New York and other northeast cities to study Modernism and abstract art. I will seek to work with a mentor to refine my skills in stone setting and take workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, and/or the Appalachian Center for Craft.
