When MODA closed for COVID-19, we collaborated with Shannon Downey to provide our audience with embroidery tutorials of her “Wash Your Hands and Don’t Be a Racist” pattern. As our Making Change: The Art & Craft of Activism exhibition demonstrated, many crafters use their practice to meditate on larger issues and as a way of expressing their opinions about them (which seemed especially important during the upheavals of 2020). Craftivism 101, a refinement of previous workshops, will be 10 offerings of a 2-hour workshop that Shannon has developed to introduce craftivism and build community.
