"Body of the Swarm: History of Encaustic Painting in the American South" is a research project that identifies & explores the history of paint making from bee products such as encaustic paint in the American south.This research explores the cultivation of this nature based medium as a praxis for eco-conscious art making.

The Center for Craft is reactivating the Craft Futures Fund grant program to provide emergency relief in response to Hurricane Helene, directing critical resources to the artists of Western North Carolina. Donate now to join this effort—application details will be posted shortly.
The Fall 2024 programs and grant deadlines have been postponed until further notice. The Craft Research Fund and Windgate-Lamar Fellowship programs will continue, though deadlines may have shifted. Please check individual grant pages for details.
