Liane Al Ghusain (b. 1987, Kuwait) is a Palestinian-Kuwaiti artist with a multidisciplinary practice, spanning video, performance, text, embroidery, and sculpture. She holds an MFA in Art & Media from NYU Abu Dhabi and BA/MA degrees in English from Stanford. Liane has exhibited internationally in Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Beirut, Detroit, Dubai, Grand Rapids, Kuwait City, Madrid, Manama, Sharjah, Tokyo, and Venice. She teaches tatreez; her embroidery work was featured in Narrative Threads: Palestinian Embroidery in Contemporary Art (Saqi Books, London).
This research examines the connections between Navajo rug weaving, beadwork, and Palestinian embroidery, focusing on material history and contemporary artists whose practice advocates for their communities.
