Rose Slivka and the Crafting of Craft Horizons, 1955-1979

This paper re-examines the editorial strategies of the American Craft Council’s influential publication Craft Horizons between the years 1955, when the writer and critic Rose Slivka joined the magazine as associate editor, and 1979, when Slivka was asked by the American Craft Council (ACC) board of trustees to resign as editor-in-chief,1 after which the magazine was rebranded as American Craft under new editorial leadership.
