Spin Studies #63
Windgate-Lamar Fellowship
2020
At the intersection of chance and discipline, I explore the pull to equilibrium through experimental, process-based work that rely on molten glass, performative activity, and documentation. In every physical occurrence, there is a beginning and an end. The beginning is the disruption of an equilibrium, and the end is a state of balance that emerges. Once a state of equilibrium has been returned, the path to it has been lost. My work grasps at the fleeting state in between. It is the journey to equilibrium that creates satisfaction. It is the embodiment of the scratch that meets the itch. I compose juicy fluid moments which create opulent states of unrest with molten glass.
